A Saturday Stroll: Parents Edition

A Saturday Stroll: Parents Edition

There wasn’t any action here on the Det Langa Huset blog for a solid 5 or 6 weeks, because all of the action was happening in real life. I started a 1/2 day every day Swedish class a few days after our little guy began 1st grade, a week later our shipping container (finally!!) showed up, so we got to start officially settling in, and then my parents came to play for a couple of weeks, marking our first official visitors! We did so many things, and are already planning the next visit. It was fun to play host in this city that is becoming an equal mix of familiar and foreign, and to be a tourist as well, because we still kind of are. Here are a few shots from 2 favorite field trips, if you’d like to see:

Tjolöholms Slott is located 40 km south of Gothenburg, featuring beautiful gardens, an amazing beach (though we visited on a nippy, windy day, so no bathing took place except for the dog, who will jump in any body of water anywhere!) We look forward to visiting again next month for Christmas markets. Read all about it right here.
A favorite night for all of us was a sunset dinner cruise around the Archipelago. The food was fan-tas-tic, the staff as welcoming as they were entertaining (they even let Linus steer the boat!), and it felt like such a special, old-timey dinner club type of place to be. This is on the list of “must-dos” for any future visitors, so come hungry! (Read all about Stromma dinner cruises in Gothenburg here.)
